The inspiration for my paintings comes from long time love of the Caribbean and, in particular, the brightly coloured vernacular buildings I have seen, sketched and photographed on the island of Antigua. Working for many years in a private art collection that dealt in naive art and from my training as a traditional signpainter has influenced my current style. I love the tactile quality of the gloss of the enamel paints i use and their juxtaposition against the raw wood, that I believe create a balance. I like to leave parts of my paintings untouched so as to present the viewer with the parts of the image that I notice and find most interesting in the scenery around me.
